After feeling compelled to share this scripture on Facebook, I thought I'd also share it here on our blog.
You see, I continue to notice Facebook posts from friends and family members expressing quaint little phrases of wisdom. When I read some of them, I think, you are completely missing the boat! These humanist phrases miss the mark because they are devoid of spiritual substance, are they not?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there is no place for this human wisdom, but we shouldn't use it as a substitution for GOD's word.
Here are a few such posts:
"Be careful who you trust and tell your problems to. Not everyone who smiles at you is your friend."
"One small crack doesn't mean you are broken, it means you were tested and you didn't fall apart."
Paul's Message, the Spirit's Power (1 corinthians 4,5
"…4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God."
There is also the following verse to consider:
Proverbs 3; 4-6
…4 So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man. 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.…
