STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND LISTEN TO HIM

Today at Faith Community, Pastor Scott again spoke of being a difference maker.  But because being a difference maker so often means taking action, today he reminded us that we still have to make quiet-and-still-time for listening to  HIM.

Pastor Scott talked about when Jesus visited Martha and Mary.   In the Gospel of Luke, we read:

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."[3

As the Pastor gave examples of how we might be distracted and kept from hearing God's voice in our lives, I was thinking of how, as a college student, at the start of every class I would sit ready to hear the teacher.  I would be ready to write down all important details.

Unfortunately, while I was ready to listen, some students were fidgeting with their hair or looking at what was happening outside the window.

How do I know this?  Later, during group projects,  they would ask me what was said.

In Pastor Scott's and my own example, the point is we have to be still and quiet; listening.  Listen to what HE is saying.  Just as it was pleasing to my College teachers to know that I was listening, it is pleasing to God to know we are listening to HIM.

When we listen to HIM, I think we will be better able to do his will, and the joy we feel when we know we are doing his will is like a beacon to those who don't know HIM.  At least some will want to know, "How can I get some of that?"

So, set aside quiet time for listening to the LORD.

"God's Not Dead" Official Movie Trailer

Today in Church, Mrs. Dajunna recommended a movie we should support.  She said, essentially, if we support (watch) movies that are not worth watching, then this one should really be supported and seen.  She said she thinks it's the best Christian movie she has ever watched.

The name of the movie is, "God's not Dead".

Here is the official movie Trailer:

"Difference Maker" by NeedtoBreathe

"I am a difference maker, the only one who speaks to HIM, the friendliest of the friends of God"... in a wold of people who don't know HIM.

The Pastor spoke of this song in a previous video post on this blog. (CLICK HERE TO SEE IT.) He's been talking about being a difference maker for a few weeks now.  His message, I think, is that by being the light, by letting HIS light shine through us, we can be difference makers.

How?   People will see it and want to know how they can get it to.  Anyway, here's the song:

Voices telling you You can't, You're a failure, You're not worth it?

Sometimes a voice in my own mind tells me negative things about myself.  Sometimes negative voices come from others saying I can't, I won't, or that I am of no value to anyone.

Have you ever heard any of these voices?

This song helps me understand that there is good news.  It reminds me that there is another voice I can choose to listen too:  The Voice of Truth.

Pastor Scott: You can Make a Difference 3/2/14

I recorded the opening music but cut it short so I'd have enough memory to get most (if not all) of Pastor Scott's sermon.

If you want to listen to the song that Pastor Scott talks about in this sermon, CLICK HERE.

"God has a plan for your life and you can make a difference."
