Are we Prepared to Receive Jesus? 12/20/15

This time of year we fret and fuss over getting the right gifts, making sure houses are decorated and all the food cooked just right, but are we prepared to receive Jesus?  Pastor Scott explains in today's sermon.

Also at the end of the video, Cori and a few children have a very important announcement, and Cori receives a heartfelt gift.

12/6/15 Faith to Obey God's calling: Full Service

Today's Scripture

Mathew 14;22-32

22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,”they said, and cried out in fear.

27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Luke 1;26-28
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”--------
These two sets of scriptures have something in common:  the acceptance by faith, and the willingness to act on faith.  Acceptance and action, when God orchestrates us, is powerful, beautiful and amazing.
Are we available for God’s use?  Are we willing vessels?   Each of needs to post this question to ourselves.  If we are not, what’s getting in the way?

We cannot quantify with numbers the people we could reach, but are not because we get stuck in the, “I can’t do that”, and, the, “That’s Crazy” mindset.

The following video is the full morning worship in which Pastor Scott explains this concept in detail.

Watch: Pastor Scott talks about Life through the Spirit 11/1/15 (Full Service)

Pastor Scott spoke from  Romans 8:1-4

Below:  New International Version (NIV)

Life Through the Spirit

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.[c] And so he condemned sin in the flesh,
in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Pastor Scott said having HIS Holy Spirit living within us makes us HIS children.

This statement made me think of a song I recently heard for the first time. I am compelled to share it with you at this time, so here it goes:
